Download Movies – Blockbuster and Samsung Team Up

The link-up of Blockbuster and Samsung is hardly exciting, especially since their quality is not the best, but we do have OnDemand movie streaming available now.

Luckily, even more HDTVs will be allowing the OnDemand service to challange the Netflix watch instantly service.

In the autumn, stores will be stocking some Samsung hardware. As an added bonus, certain 2009 Samsung Blu-ray players and home theater systems, Samsung LCD, LED HDTVs Series 7000 and above, and Plasma HDTVs Series 650 and above will receive OnDemand proceeding firmware updates. Connection to the internet would be necessary for the machines.

If you are an on demand customer of Blockbuster the company executives are promising with a straight face “preferred positioning on the Blu-ray interfaces”. The price is good, but you won’t get decent service help. And as you boot up the hardware you just paid for, expect to watch ad for Blockbuster.

Millions of households have recently signed up for this plan to get streaming media through Blockbuster. In lieu of a traditional set-top box with OnDemand features, users will be able to stream an extensive array of media directly to their television via a Samsung device.

Blockbuster is different than Netflix because the latter has a catalog called Watch Instantly that lets you borrow new movies and television programs. Blockbuster’s plan provides an on-screen feature that doesn’t require computer instructions either.

Watch Instantly is doubly painful for those who want to watch a movie streamed via a computer and then to a digital device like an Xbox 360.

Use of Blockbuster’s streaming service comes without charge since they are reimbursed by the rent fee. The “Watch Instantly” feature comes with any Netflix monthly subscription.

One ponders the meaning of Blockbuster’s CEO Jim Keyes as he promises, “The newest hit movies and high definition Blu-ray product will be great”.

Blockbuster stores and their website will now sell Samsung items as part of their agreement. The old retail video rental store also contracted with TiVo via OnDemand.

Netflix’s streaming partners contains not only Samsung, Tivo, Sony, LG but also Microsoft via its Xbox 360.

Watch Instantly by Netflix is disappointing and I suspect Blockbuster can’t make it work either. The company’s possibly defective products, combined with a customer service more concerned with getting more money, makes Samsung America’s residency on the list a disquieting situation.

But you will not understand this.

Comcast’s On Demand is growing in options, with the recent inclusion of CBS. The service, currently in beta, will offer digital video content to cable subscribers without any additional service costs. “TV Everywhere” is the name of the service that allows downloading and also direct streaming to phones and also personal computers.

Comcast tests in only 5,000 households. With this beta, they are trying to steal viewers from other free sites that pay their bills by inserting ads.

Time Warner’s TV Everywhere service now includes HBO. The Starz channel is included in the package.
